The October/November 2021 issue of The Linguist — an international professional journal of Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) — features “Challenging Unconscious Gender Bias” by Edison. In his writing, which was chosen as Star Letter, he discusses the reflection and reproduction of gender roles in Cantonese and English, and why we, especially linguists, need to be aware of unconscious gender bias in everyday talk.
